roots

Hello. My name is Abby. And this is my bake sale.

I was born and raised in Sandpoint, Idaho. So was my mom. And her mom. And her mom. In every way, it’s home. In 2005 I earned a finance degree from The University of Idaho and quickly realized that a life in heels and hose was not for me. So I went to culinary school. And the dream of a someday bakery took seed.

In 2009 my love for pastry carried me to San Francisco where I worked as a pastry cook, but that too was a short stint. Partly because it’s hard to pay the bills in a place like San Francisco on $10 an hour, but mostly because I fell into food styling. Over the past nine years, though, that seed of a dream bakery has grown slowly and waited patiently to come to fruition.

Abby’s Bake Sale is a coming home. Or the start of it anyway. A return roots, to family and to a quiet, gentler life. My cakes are baked locally from scratch, with meticulous care and a lot of love. The culmination of nearly a decade of baking and styling experience, they are both pretty and delicious. My menus are simple on purpose with cakes and bakes made from the highest quality ingredients like real vanilla beans, the best chocolate, the freshest flour, and real butter, all of which are local or organic whenever possible.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know me and Abby’s Bake Sale. If you have questions or would like to learn more, I would love to hear from you.

Love and cake,

Abby
